The SmartCamper WiFi anti-theft device does not claim to be a complete anti-theft device. It was developed for personal use on one's own motorhome, on the assumption that even a “real anti-theft device” does not guarantee total protection against theft of the vehicle. If thieves are determined, they will still manage to steal it. For this reason, the main objective of the device is to provide two important functions:
- Timely notification of break-in attempts: It is essential to know if someone is trying to break into the motor home, so that you can intervene quickly, e.g. by calling the police. Mobile phone notification is therefore of paramount importance.
- External presence detection: It is useful to know if someone is lurking around the motorhome, using additional PIR sensors from the Shelly ecosystem or other compatible sensors. In particular the sensor Shelly BLUE Motion is suitable for detecting movements in or outside the caravan.
The WiFi SmartCamper burglar alarm does not include all the advanced functionalities of a traditional burglar alarm (such as management of the four arrows, centralised locks, anti-jammer sensors, etc.). Its main purpose is to inform the user if someone forces a window, if the burglar alarm already installed is sounding, or if a break-in attempt occurs, possibly activating a siren or sending the existing burglar alarm.
